How i wire is connected to this: With 3 soil With 3 red 2 connected with neutral black and 1 black switch connected life Anyone can see this is a problem? When you installed a new light wires in a box misconnected. Kitchen box panel feed, then switch legs and then fed to the living room that splits. I recommend that an electrician take a look. A relatively (cheap) FIX read and cheaper than the cost of your house is burning fast. Hope this helps.

My kitchen's lone light switch is on the far side of the room. How hard is it to put a new switch in the wall?Whenever I walk in my kitchen from the living room, I have to walk all the way to the back of the kitchen to turn on the light. I would love to have a light switch on the wall right inside the kitchen when you first walk in. The wall I'm wanting it on has no outlet nor does it have an existing light switch or anything. How difficult would it be to install a new switch from scratch? What items and tools would I need for this job? Thanks.
The most difficult part of the job is getting a cable from the existing switch location to the new switch location.
The easy (and relatively cheap) option is to use a "remote controlled light switch". I have used a product made by Leviton called "The anywhere switch" (Leviton catalog #6696). You replace the existing light switch with this special switch which contains a radio receiver and then mount the transmitter on the new wall (looks like a decora series light switch but sticks out from the wall about 1/2"). The transmitter runs on batteries (which will last years) and requires no new wiring. I don't know if you will find one at the local home improvement center but any electrical wholesaler will either have one or could get one (or something similar). |
