Biz Buzz: Ronald McDonald House picked for 'idea home'
It all began last fall, when the magazine staff was brainstorming ideas for an "idea home" project for 2011. The homes are typically homes that are tied to an idea, such as technology or green living. Magazine editor Trevor Meers gets credit for the idea, while Carol Schalla, a senior editor for home projects, did most of the heavy lifting. The project coincides with the 30th anniversary of the opening of the house at 1441 Pleasant St. on the grounds of the Iowa Methodist Medical Center and the 25th anniversary of Midwest Living. Like several Meredith magazines, Midwest Living typically does show houses each year for a charity.
