Your Garden: Bulb catalogs cause dreams to take root
I'd run them along tree lines and into the trees and out into the grass and along daylily beds and rose borders and anywhere else I could get away with a very large bed of them. The bulb catalogs start piling in, and then the dreams begin. Every year I go through the catalogs and wonder what it would be like to have great drifts of the finest, newest daffodils spread in sweeping expanses through my 6. And I'd plant more than a thousand in each irregular-shaped bed. What I envision is daffodils by the thousands. I don't know why it's always daffodils I envision. I'd dream of tulips if they'd live for me more than a year or two. And it's a very large-cupped pale yellow that fades to pure white. Each sweep of 1,000 or so would be one variety.

Plumen: The World's First Designer Low Energy Light Bulb ...
Many people still prefer incandescents because when the bulbs themselves are exposed their shapes are simpler and less jarring to the eye, and they are also thought to give off a warmer quality of light. And because CFLs last ten times longer than a traditional bulb, they put less waste into landfills, too. Plumen aims to address these issues with a glass tube design that is a piece of art in and of itself, and by sharing creative accessorizing and positioning techniques to make the bulbs work in any space. This newest idea addresses the pros and cons of the energy efficient bulb options currently out there on the market....

Early Light Bulb FAQ
Why is Thomas Edison credited with inventing the electric Light bulb?Joseph Swan was know to have show a working light bulb as early as February 1879 so Why?
Well!!
It is all politics and understanding!! Edison, being a shrewd businessman, patented every idea he had even if he did not intend to follow it up. On the 10th of November 1879 he applied for a British patent for an incandescent |
How much heat does a light bulb produce compared to a vacuum tube?A regular 60 watt light bulb, and the types of vacuum tubes used in very early computers (ENIAC, UNIVAC, etc).
Also, how much do the sizes differ? I'm assuming (from pictures) that vacuum tubes are bigger, but I don't know how much. An incandescent bulb is only 40% efficient. The rest of the energy is given off as heat.
vacuum tubes come in different sizes. They do produce heat. Some are the size of a 60 watt bulb, different shape. Some are larger.some are smaller |

Almost a century later, the business is again helping customers get a handle on changing the way they light their homes. Federal laws designed to phase out the incandescent light bulb in favor of new, more energy-efficient light bulb alternatives will
The research comes amid consumer angst about the Congress-mandated phaseout of Th0mas Edison's incandescent light bulbs, which starts next year with the 100-watt bulb. California began the phaseout last month, a year early.
