Regency lights...where oil lamps used during Regency period?


I like to read Regency literature, and I noticed that there was no mention of any other type of light used beside candles. I know that oil lamps where use as early as Pharos time, but I was curios why there is no mention of it during regency time.
The common oil lamp had fallen out of favour by the Regency period and had been replaced by the far more reliable Argand lamp from roughly 1780. It was still an oil lamp (usually whale oil) but gave off a greater light and needed less refilling and wick
