How do you dispose of old oil- lamp oil if the mechanism for the wick is broken?I realize that burning it off would be the ideal way to go but, the part that has the wick in it is damaged and the wick does not adjust anymore. I want to replace this mechanism and oil but, how can I get rid of this nasty oil? I can not dump it down
oh..why don't you use plastic ziploc bag then pour the oil inside it...then change the wick then put the oil back inside..voila good as new! no need to buy new oil if the old oil can be used after!

I have a very old oil lamp with glass globe on top and smaller one on bottom. Where is the best place to findout about antique oil lamps and their value? I have taken it to local antique dealers and all say the same thing. They have never seen one like it.
Get on line and look for antique pages/oil lamps. That's what I had to do with a particular item I got at a estate auction. It took me FOREVER, but I finally found it. It was worth 250 and I paid 4 dollars for it.
