Do I need a transformer for all track lights?I recently bought track lighting for a new stingingly from Pottery Barn - it is 120 volts. This is the link:

The current track lights are very measly and on a spindly, wavy track - and a massive box at the end. I'm not sure transformer is certain for these and if so will I get the right one? No, you do not require a transformer. The contractor you've been speaking to is either misinformed as to the specs of the track lights, or is a perfect moron.
120v is what you already have in your home, everywhere except the dryer and stove, but you don't need to be concerned about that. All your existing light fixtures and wall plugs are all 120v already. Transforming 120 to 120 is unmistakeably not necessary. Just make sure the the light track does indeed take 120v input and you're sizeable to go. |
Can I attach new pendant light to my exisitng track lighting fixture?I have a vaulted ceiling in my scullery and it is hard to reach the bulbs to change, so I want to put ornament light on the existing track so I can reach a little easier, and give it a new look
There are two parts to this cast doubt upon. First off, like the previous responder said, you can take one of the existing track connectors to the lighting showroom or components store and they can sell you an adaptor to power the new pendant with.
The later part of the question is that the existing track will likely not be able to support the weight of a kind pendant. These tracks are basically built to support the impact of a lightbulb and a cover, and not much more. A pendant is much heavier and would need to be hung anon to the ceiling or electrical box, independently from the track. Good luck. |
