Spaces: A Blanco home built green and decorated with thrifty chic style

Wherever he could, Paul used green-rated products for carpets, carpet padding, primer, paint — he even used a recycled-jeans product for interior insulation. On the exterior, Mason sandstone covers walls made of insulated concrete forms. More of his touches show in architectural details, like dramatic sandstone walls, arched entryways, and towering tray and barrel ceilings. While Paul focused on “green” construction, Amy scoured resale stores, garage sales and online listings for furnishings and accessories. So he and wife Amy, who live in Blanco, sold their house and moved into a rental while the new home was built. A floor-to-ceiling fireplace, built of matching Mason stone, incorporates the family's flat-screen television over the mantle.

Pretty Handy Girl: Rewiring A Copper Wall Sconce - Out With The ...

With the wire strippers firmly closed around the cord, pull the strippers toward the end of your cord. Especially on this sconce since it doesn't have a long pole that the wires have to feed through. Wire strippers are pretty easy to use. Choose the hole that will just lightly cut the insulation, but not the wires inside. It might help to squeeze the covers together firmly before inserting the screw. Place the cover back on the switch and screw it back on tightly. I have to tell you, re-wiring a lamp is one of the easiest electrical DIY projects to tackle. You will need to make sure the cover and back fit snuggly together with no gaps. If the insulation is cut all the way through,it should slide right off. then you may need to rotate the cord 90 degrees and repeat....
